The International Material Data System (IMDS) is a global compliance tool used by automotive manufacturers world wide to capture data on substances of concern and materials recyclability for compliance with global legal compliance obligations. IMDS has been in existence for over seven years now and has over 55,000 companies registered and more than 110,000 users registered worldwide. IMDS is well integrated now into automotive processes in Europe and N. America as a key requirement within the Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP).

The REACH Regulations represent one of the most challenging pieces of legislation to be implemented within the EU in recent years. One of the key issues that industry needs to address now is the need to communicate between all levels of the supply chain in order to ensure uninterrupted industrial supply as the Regulations take hold throughout pre-registration and full Registration, both of which start next year.
