CAT Alliance Ltd is currently presenting at a number of REACH awareness workshops to inform downstream users (in particular) of the business risks and obligations under the new REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) legislation. Whilst this legislation originates from the EU, its impact is global as it affects the whole supply chain and across many market sectors.
We are specialists in supply chain communication and data management through our strong network in over 50 countries. We can support companies to get themselves prepared for REACH through identifying their business risks and solutions. We can work with you to identify requirements and milestones to comply with the REACH process and provide standardised processes to minimise unnecessary expenditure.

Note on REACH
With the publication of the EU REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) legislation on 18 December 2006 and the date of implementation from 1 June 2007, the challenge begins in earnest. Pre-registration of chemicals is set for an 18 month period, with completion by the end of November 2008. This is a critical period in which chemicals used by many manufacturers have to be registered, after which their use will be illegal. This Pre-registration period will be followed by the registration, testing and evaluation of chemicals based on the timescales set within the Directive (dependent upon the tonnage of chemicals used).
Supplier and data management up and down the supply chain will be key requisites for successful implementation of REACH. A second challenge will be to manage data effectively through data sharing and through the intended approach of joint data submissions.
